Sisters Always!

Maya and I finally had a full day at home yesterday!  It feels like was have been go, go, go since our summer holidays started.  It is great though!  We are spending lots of time with family and friends and making more awesome memories for me to scrap!!  Anyway, in honour of the quiet day at home I decided to get a little scrappy.  I played along with the Sketch Challenge posted up on the October Afternoon blog.

Here is the fab sketch.....

And here is my layout using papers from Thrift Shop and featuring 2 of my wonderful nieces.....

I think I will go do a little more scrapping now.  Maya has a cousin here for a sleepover and they are happily playing!!

Getting scrappy with OA!

You know it's funny but no matter how much scrapping I do I swear there is no end to my stash of supplies or pictures.  Perhaps that is because I can't stop adding to both of them!!!!!

Anyway, here are a couple of layouts with some older October Afternoon (Thrift Shop)

Ghost Ears

But of course I scrapped it!!! I am not sure if you remember Maya's story I posted awhile ago. Well, what kind of Mom and scrapbooker would I be if I didn't scrap that story to keep for all eternity.

Here is the layout...

You will notice that sweet little Ghost Ears image on there. That would be Who's That Ghost? Flopsey from My Favorite Things. I sent an email to Kim (MFT's owner) inquiring as to the availability of that set and imagine my surprise and delight when she offered to send it to me as a gift. Such an incredibly sweet and generous thing to do! Thanks so much Kim! Just another reason that MFT ROCKS!!

I am also entering this layout in this week's Scrap and Stamp challenge.

August Reveal at the Turtle!

Just a reminder that this month for Scrapping Turtle I got to play with the fabulous Road Map collection from October Afternoon. My reveal this month shows you that you don't always have to scrap according to the intended theme of the papers. You will see no travel here in these layouts!
Check it out....

There are some details that are hard to see in the picture. 'LOVE' is glittery chipboard Thickers and 'ice cream' is cut with Doodlebug flocked paper. The ice cream cone is made using the cloud QK die and I hand cut the cone then I did some embossing.

And a detail shot of the last one to show some of the dimension....

Turtle Peek & Product Highlight!

This month at Scrapping Turtle I have a 2 for 1 happening! The following project is both my Sneak Peek and my Product Highlight.

Initially when I picked up my kit for this month I was not sure what the heck I would do with the travel theme. Then, inspiration hit and this project came to life.
I have used papers from the October Afternoon 'Road Map' collection as well as this month's Product Highlight - this mini-album from Fontwerks. I also added some mini pages using chipboard coasters from my stash.

This album was fun to make and came together pretty quickly. That definitely made me happy. There is tons of QuicKutz used throughout as well as other bits of things from my stash!!
Thanks for looking! :)

Here are a few projects from recent history that I have yet to post here.
A few layouts....An altered canvas I made for my baby girl's room....

And a card....

I hope to get scrappy today but it is not looking good. I think the cold I have been ignoring all week has caught up to me. I feel yucky!!

Scrapping in 2009!!!

Here we are on the 4th of January and the last day of my holidays and I finally did a little scrapping. Seriously, what is wrong with me?!?! I have been off for 2 weeks but apparently I needed to wait until the day before returning to work to get a little scrappy. Oh well, I am very happy with what I got accomplished. My goal this year is to test my own creativity and not rely on sketches and such as much!! That being said, I can't get too far outside the box since my clean & linear style will only let me go so far I think! Anyway, here are my first 2 layouts for 2009 and I am pretty pleased with both of them!!

Details: cardstock - Bazzill; pp - Fancy Pants "The Daily Grind"; journaling spot - Your Memories By Design; font - Storybook by QuicKutz

Details: cardstock - Bazzill; pp - October Afternoon "Good Cheer"; font - Metro Classic by QuicKutz; stamps - frame & "Christmas 2008" by QuicKutz

Another thing I am going to do this year is set another scrappy goal for myself. Last year my target was 200 layouts and I am pleased to say that I made it to 216! YAY!!! This year, I have a couple of things I am going to work toward.

First, I am going to step it up a little and see if I can make it to 250 layouts for 2009!! (2 down - 248 more to go!!)

Second, I am going to work on making some cards. I think I will be kind to myself and say 50 of those just because I am still a newbie. As a specific part of that though, this year I would like to make and send a birthday card to each member of my family (which in case you don't know is A LOT of people). Sad to say this is not something I usually do since bought cards are just too expensive. Let's see if I can meet my goal.
