We Are Family - a layout

Well, Winter is here for reals!!  Not only is it cold as heck but it is a snowy freakin' wonderland out there!  Looks pretty but I don't like it.  Plus, my husband pushed me into a snowbank after I helped him shovel the driveway.  He's kind of a jerk like that!!  ;)   (Just kidding.  He's actually a good hubby but has a weird sense of humour that apparently involves me being cold and wet in the snow!!)

Anyway, I am just popping in to share a layout I recently completed.

Creative Scrappers #245

I have been a big fan of Creative Scrappers for quite a while now.  They have awesome sketches and such a fabulously talented team.  I 'pin' their sketch every week and swear i will get to it.  Yeah, you know how that goes.  Don't we all 'pin' with the best of intentions.

Well, this week is different.  I put that baby to use!!  I'm pretty proud of myself.  Especially because this week's sketch features a sunburst.  I know this has been trendy for a while but I have never attempted one because, well frankly because they scared me.  I thought for sure they would be complicated.  Oh no!!  Easy peasy and I love the look!!!

Okay, first up is the sketch (#245) by the fantastic Nicole Nowosad.....

And my first take on it.....

Supplies:

Monster Stew by Jillibean Soup
Bazzill Dotted Swiss cardstock
Stampin Up ribbon
button from stash

Then, just because I liked the sketch & sunburst so much, I decided to do another....

Supplies:

Oooh La La For Him by My Mind's Eye
American Crafts Thickers
miscellaneous ribbon & corrugated cardstock

Playing with Jillibean

Things have been HECTIC lately and haven't had much time to blog.  Working a lot at the moment and therefore, do not have much time for myself.  Anyway, I figured I would take a minute now before heading to work to share another recent layout.

This one was also completed for the online Christmas crop the Two Scrapbook Friends forum was hosting.  It was based on a sketch by Jayne and features two of my very favourite people ever - my parents!!!  These two are incredible parents and we are so amazingly blessed to have them!!

Here's the sketch......

And my take on it.....

Supplies:

Christmas Eve Chowder by Jillibean Soup
corrugated heart from Jillibean Soup
Miscellaneous doily & button

*****************

The tragedy in Connecticut has been on my mind a lot since it happened.  As I am sure is the case with most everyone.  I cannot even express how sad it makes me.  So terrible and senseless.

I wanted to share this picture though because at the moment it sums things up nicely for me.

Friends are Angels

I love this sentiment and when I saw I knew it was perfect for a special friend of mine. She is someone who has been there and lifted me to my feet on a few occasions. This card is making its way to her as we speak.

The sentiment and Isabella are both from Paper Makeup Stamps. I adore these fairies!!

Look Who's Three

The challenge this week over at Turtle Soup was brought to us by Heather. She drew up a fab sketch for us to play with. I have to say though that my take on it got a little wonky. Sometimes when I sit down with a sketch I find I stick to it completely and other times (like this one) it just takes on a life of its' own. Either way, the sketch was fabulous inspiration and I am quite happy with the layout!

Here is Heather's sketch....

And here is my layout.....I am loving the Jillibean Soup goodies!!!

Everyday Memories

It's time for a new Product Highlight over at Scrapping Turtle. This month these fabulous Maya Road keychains are all 15% off. I love these things. You can do what you want with them and make them the perfect finishing touch to your projects. Check out their selection and pick some up today.
Here is my layout using a couple of the words. Both 'everyday' and 'memories' are embossed and inked. A big thanks to Vicki Boutin for introducing me to the world of embossing chipboard in a class I took with her.

Ranger Crackle Paint

Each month at Scrapping Turtle, the Design Team showcases something different as Product of the Month. For the month of October, the chosen product is Ranger Crackle Paint. I have to say that I am loving this stuff. I have used it before but usually I just slap it and on and leave it be. Well, thanks to Jennifer McGuire and her Thinking Inking series I have picked up a few more techniques! It is so simple to use and looks awesome!!

First up is my card. I smeared some of the 'antique linen' Crackle Paint on cardstock and then once dry I went in with my 'walnut stain' Distress Ink to darken up the crackle. Once it was all dry I used my QK to cut out the heart ribbon slide.

And a close-up...

This card is making its' way to Diana as a great big Thank You for sending me some goodies!! Check out her store - Magnolia-licious - for all of your Tilda & Edwin needs!

I was having so much fun that I decided to do a layout as well. I painted a raw chipboard flourish with 'fired brick' Crackle Paint and once dry I again used my 'walnut stain' Distress Ink to enhance the crackle.

And a close-up....

Check out the Turtle blog to see what the rest of the team has come up with!!
