I am overwhelmed!!

Yesterday was Crop for the Cure! Today it is done. It is strange. The 6 months or so leading up to the day, I have CFTC constantly on the mind and now I am just exhausted. And happy. Very very happy. I cannot put into words really how I feel today but I will try.
Four years now we have been doing this event and by we I mean myself, my Mom and my sisters. Some of my very favourite people in the world so that right there is a big plus! When we started we just thought it would be a quick way to raise our donations for Run for the Cure. Sure, we knew it would be fun but really we were looking to get our donations since none of us like to ask people for money (even though the cause is an incredible one).

From then until now, I cannot believe!! Our first couple of years we had a good response and had several people come out and support us. We cropped, we laughed, we ate, we felt good about supporting a good thing. It was fantastic! Now though, I am truly in awe of the life of its own this event has taken on. People actually want to come and look forward to this. It is weird for me. I plan it and do my best to make it a good day but always stress that it won't be good enough. So, the fact that people truly love it and embrace the day as their own is awe-inspiring to me. I have made some incredible friends through this hobby and this day and I feel truly blessed by that. We have many people who have been with us from the beginning and I can't thank them enough. We have people who came out for the first time this year and I can't thank them enough. But most of all, we have people who had such a fabulous time that they are already signed up for next year. That astounds me! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Without all of you this day would just be myself and my family sitting in an empty room so the credit goes to each and every one of you! Your support of this cause amazes me!!

And I truly cannot forget the many many people who step up and support our cause. Seriously, when the boxes start rolling into my house I am amazed and awed by the generousity of so many people. I ask for some help and it just comes in in spades. This is truly a wonderful community we are part of filled with some of the sweetes, most generous and fabulous people I have ever met!! I thank each of you not only for providing the goodies that I know helps keep our participants coming back each year but also for helping raise awareness for this cause. Together we all will make a difference and hopefully prevent people from being devestated by this. I feel as though my words here have not adequately expressed how much I appreciate you all so just now that it truly means more than I can say!! You are all amazing and I never miss an opportunity to share that with others! THANK YOU!!!! (Please check out this post to get a look at all of the incredible people and businesses that stepped up to help out. Return the favour by bringing some of their awesome goodies into your crafty rooms.)

And at the heart of all of this is my Nan!! She is the reason we do Run for the Cure and she is the reason we do this day!! This terrible disease took her away from us and I miss her always!! She can never be forgotten. In all of the fun this day brings to us, she is the reason we do it and that must always be remembered!! It is important to me and I know the rest of the team to have that out there. Our Nan was an incredible woman whom I truly believe everyone should have had the pleasure of knowing. It was her love and her spirit that made us into the people we are today. Without her many many years of leading by example in helping others we would not be the people we are doing the things we do. If we can follow in her footsteps even a little I am honoured. I know that she would be proud of each and every person involved in this day. And I know that those of you who never met her may not know what high praise that is but believe me when I tell you it is!!

So please just know how much each and every member of the CFTC team thanks you!! You are all amazing and I look forward to working with you next year!!

Saturday June 4th, 2011 - mark your calendars folks!!

(It is still a work in progress)

I thought I would add a bit of scrappiness to this post by sharing the favours I made for each of our 50 participants. Can't crop all day without some chocolate!! I used the gorgeous Hope the Awareness Fairy from Paper Makeup Stamps.

  1. Huge {{{Hugs}} to you my dear friend!! Your words are so special and touch my heart. I feel like I have gotten to know your Nan just a little by knowing you and by being part of CFTC this year. Thank you for letting me share in this day and help just a bit to make it so wonderful. I can't wait for next year and already have it marked on my calendar. So glad that you are already saving me a spot :) More {{{Hugs}}} to you, your Mom and your sisters -- you are all amazing people and a fabulous tribute to your Nan.
