Happy Mother's Day!

I just wanted to take a minute to wish all of the mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day!! Being a Mom is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things ever!! Noth that I need to tell my fellow Moms that. I am thankful everyday for my baby girl. Maya is the light of my life and I love her more than anything!

Speaking of my girl, here is the gift she made me at her school this week. Didn't she do any awesome job?!?!

Oh, and while we are on the subject of Mother's Day, here is the card I made for my Mom. I used this Sweet Tilda image that you can purchase from Magnolia-licious. There are so many things I can say about my Mom but I am tired and need to head to bed. I can sum it all up by saying that she is fabulous and I love her and am proud to have her not only as my Momma but also as my friend!!

Merry Christmas

A couple of weeks ago I went to a cardmaking afternoon with a couple of friends! So much fun! And we managed to convert one of the gals into a cardmaking addict!!

Anyway, here is one of the cards I whipped up that afternoon. Love this Tilda stamp. If you would like to have one for your own, you can get her at Magnolia-licious.

I am also entering this in this week's Simon Says Challenge!

Short and sweet today because I am a crazy woman and am heading out soon to meet my Mom and a couple of the sisters to brave the malls for some last minute shopping. If I don't come back, send a search party please!! ;)

Random Act of Kindness Day

Today is Random Act of Kindness Day so please get out there and show your love to another person. It doesn't matter what you do; just do a little something to brighten someone's day! Everyone needs a little sunshine from time to time.

My Random Act of Kindness???

I have made this card that will be in the mail on the way to a special someone this afternoon. I have been having a tough week and this person has spent a couple of nights on the phone with me chatting and just in general making me feel better! While people are busy trying to tear me down this fabulous friend has been busy trying to prop me back up. You know who you are darlin and you know I love you for it. Thank you so much for everything! I can't tell you what it means to me!

This card is also for the DT Sketch Challenge over at Magnolia-licious Highlites. A fabulous sketch by the super talented Kerry Donovan-Casey. This adorable Sitting Witch Tilda is from the So Spooky collection available over at Magnolia-licious. This is also my second entry for this week's challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges. I am loving these easel cards!!

Oh, and on another note.....if you are looking for some scrappy fun this weekend, pop on over and join us at Turtle Soup for an online crop!!

Some personal reflections and cards by Maya!!

This scrapbooking/cardmaking hobby of mine has brought a lot of good into my life.
First is the simple joy I get from creating something. I am not a terribly artistic person (I can barely draw stick people) but I love seeing a project come together knowing that I made it!
It's a good feeling!
Second is the great many friends I have made through this hobby. Some are friends I actually get to see and have fun with and visit with and are often connected to Scrapping Turtle. There is a reason that is my happy place!! But many of the people I have come to know as friends are people I have never met. We check out each others' blogs and we share emails. For some we live on opposite sides of the world but still I feel blessed to call each and every person (both near and far) my friend. Awesome people connected to this 'little' world of ours!!

Last and probably best of all is that this hobby is something I share with my baby girl!! Now, I have to be completely honest and admit that there have been moments when her need to scrap right along with me has been a pain in the butt! But for the most part I love that she shares it with me. She loves to craft and create and she loves to make cards!! Just randomly she will ask to make a card to send to someone or sweet girl that she is, if I say someone is not feeling well she will ask to send a card. I love her and love sharing this with her!!
And sometimes, when I am really lucky these things get all mixed up together! That is what today's post is about. To share a few cards my girl made for some very special friends!
This first card using Riley and his Sock Monkey from Hanna Stamps is going to Kristi who was sweet enough to send this stamp to my baby girl to play with. My girl loves her moose!!

This second card (using Lily at the Beach stamps from Pink Cat Studio) is heading out to Lillian who was so kind to send a card and some stickers for my girl! So sweet of you!!

This final card (using a Magnolia image) is making its way to Jacque who was so awesome to send Maya a box of goodies (colouring books, crayons, storybooks) and a gorgeous card that is now being proudly displayed in her room!!

Thank you so much to each of you ladies for thinking of my girl. She was very happy and proud to make these cards for each of you and did so with very little help from her Momma.

A Tilda Easel Card.

So, I was busy crafting away on the weekend and got inspired to try something a little 'out of my box'! I was surfing through my Google Reader and came across a challenge over at the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog. To be honest, when I first saw it I kind of skipped right by since I am not into 'difficult' but I went back and took a closer look and realized that easel cards are actually pretty simple and kind of fun.

Here is my attempt.....

This card uses one of the super cute images from the A Little Yummy for your Tummy collection available at Magnolia-licious.

A Fall Tilda

Here's a card I whipped up today. This card will be making it's way to my Secret Sister from the Magnolia-licious Yahoo group.

I was also inspired by a couple of challenges for this one. The card is based on a fabulous sketch by Cindy Haffner over at Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C7) and also fits for Kraftin Kimmie Stamps challenge this week to use buttons (KKSC2).

Ranger Crackle Paint

Each month at Scrapping Turtle, the Design Team showcases something different as Product of the Month. For the month of October, the chosen product is Ranger Crackle Paint. I have to say that I am loving this stuff. I have used it before but usually I just slap it and on and leave it be. Well, thanks to Jennifer McGuire and her Thinking Inking series I have picked up a few more techniques! It is so simple to use and looks awesome!!

First up is my card. I smeared some of the 'antique linen' Crackle Paint on cardstock and then once dry I went in with my 'walnut stain' Distress Ink to darken up the crackle. Once it was all dry I used my QK to cut out the heart ribbon slide.

And a close-up...

This card is making its' way to Diana as a great big Thank You for sending me some goodies!! Check out her store - Magnolia-licious - for all of your Tilda & Edwin needs!

I was having so much fun that I decided to do a layout as well. I painted a raw chipboard flourish with 'fired brick' Crackle Paint and once dry I again used my 'walnut stain' Distress Ink to enhance the crackle.

And a close-up....

Check out the Turtle blog to see what the rest of the team has come up with!!

Embossing at the Turtle!

This was my week to provide a card challenge over at Turtle Soup. I decided to keep things easy peasy and suggested embossing. Heat or dry - your choice!!

Here is my card......

It's a little hard to see but I heat embossed both the sentiment and the spider.

A special shout out to the super fabulous Sharon for sending me some adorable Halloween Tildas. Love them!! This is my September mingle card for Magnolia-licious (I am soooo late - sorry). Want to purchase yourself some super-cute Tildas?? Check out Magnolia-licious - Diana ROCKS!

Simon Says Challenge - Thinking of You

Short and sweet today. Here is my card for this week's sketch challenge over at Simon Says Challenge Blog. I actually don't own this cutie (someone stamped her for me) but I am sure if you want her you could find her over at Magnolia-licious. Diana is awesome so go on over and check out her store.

Thanks for looking!

By the way, is anyone else having issues with their Google Reader?? Instead of showing just the unread messages mine is now showing everything. Makes it really aggravating for me since I never read everything in there in one sitting. Just curious if anyone else is having the same problem??

Tilda Bookmark

Here is a little Tilda bookmark I whipped up for a couple of challenges.

1. The September Home Page contest for the Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group challenge. This month the challenge was to make a bookmark.

2. The Simon Says Stamp PCP group challenge to use the colours pink, green & brown (sssc1). Okay, so the colours were much more specific than that but since I have no SU colours I want pretty general. Hopefully it is s still acceptable.

3. The Simon Says Challenge Blog challenge to make a Back to School themed project. I think a bookmark covers that, don't you?!?!

Okay, so here is my bookmark....

And here is the same image that Maya coloured. I think my girl has skills!! :)

Speaking of back to school, I so cannot believe it is that time again. I'm not ready! :( I have to go in for PD two days this week and then we start back with the students next Tuesday. I can't believe it is time already. And as if this adjustment isn't enough....Maya is also starting back to daycare after being out for a year. And it is a new daycare to boot. She sounds awesome though and I think Maya will do very well there. It's still nerve-wracking though. Have I told you all lately how I don't deal so well with change?!?! Wish me luck! :)
