This is gonna be a downer post...

...I apologize in advance. I try to keep my blog happy and fun because who wants to hear about all the troubles in the world. But, today, the troubles are winning. I am sure some of you know that my husband has been out of work since January 2008. Well, this week we thought things were finally looking up. Unfortunately, the job he was supposed to start today is not going to work out. And now we have nothing and that's exactly how I am feeling. Empty. It's too much. I know that there are so many other people in the same boat right now and I am not at all trying to imply that my troubles are somehow worse. It's just that it has already been a long year of barely making it and now who knows how much longer we will have to fight. I am losing my fight. I just want things to be okay. I don't think that is too much to ask for.

Okay, now I have thoroughly depressed anyone who may have actually stuck around long enough to read this post. Sorry about that. I just needed to get it out and here seemed as good a place as any. I'm not looking for pity or anything so don't feel like you need to leave a comment. It's just that hubby is not ready to talk about it and I needed to get things out before I tried to get some sleep. Sorry to dump it on all of you.

  4. Oh Tracey, I am so sorry to hear this. My husband also found out yesterday that he is being let go in the next 4 weeks. They tried to ring when we was at Zoe's birthday party but luckily he didn't take his phone. He is a contractor so no redundancy pay :-( He was made redundant 2 years ago and it took 6 months to find work then but know it will be much harder now. I will be thinking of you and wish I could give you a big hug. Love to you and your family and easy to say but stay strong. We are here anytime you need to talk. Nikki x

  10. My heart breaks for you sweetie, more so because my daughter and her husband are in the same predicament. She is devastated that she had to return to work early from maternity leave, especially as Amy is still so poorly with an immature immune system and anaemia, and Rich is beating himself up about losing his job and watching his wife go off to work. I don't think there is any easy solution but you just need to work hard at being there for each other and not let the situation you find yourselves in win! Hang in there babes, for as long as it takes xxx

  16. Sometimes it helps just a little to have an outlet for your feelings, fears and disappointments. Knowing that others care and understand makes all burdens less heavy. You and Pat have held it together through a very tough year - a testiment to the strength of your relationship! Always here for you in any way possible. Know that you are not only cherished, but admired and respected. xoxoxo

  24. Hi Tracey, after seeing your comment on my blog and that you are also from Ontario, I came to visit your blog! :) Your work is adorable, I've got to try making cards one of these days!

Something else we have in common? My husband is out of work too :( He even went back to college in hopes that it would help him find a job. He's been looking for 8 months now! I know how it feels, it is very scary. You get to the point where you don't even want to turn on your TV or listen to the news anymore because you're tired of hearing more bad news about the economy and the job losses. My heart goes out to you, and trust me, I can completely understand, I'm in the same situation :(
