Home on the Range!

It all started a month or so again with a friendly debate on the Turtle forum about guns and gun violence. My girl Mo is a hunter so is obviously a gun owner. Or at least I think that is obvious...maybe not?!?! Anyway, through the conversation Mo put an offer out there for anyone to come and join her anytime at the Range. I sent her a message and said I would be interested. At the time I wasn't entirely sure I would follow through on it. This week though being my March Break Mo sent me a message and said pick a day so I did. Thursday we headed out and braved the cold and even a little snow. I have to say it was fun!! I decided to just jump in and try things. I had a good time and Mo and her husband are fabulous company!!

I guess I should go back a bit and explain that this is an odd thing for me because I am very anti-gun and here's why......When I think of gun I pretty much equate it with gun violence. I seem to get an automatic "weapon of mass destruction" type of reference in my head. In short, they scare the bejeezus outta me!! I have never held a gun much less fire one. But here I was shooting a rifle (and I found out I'm an okay shot too). We also threw in a little cross-bow action too! Now that was cool!!!

In the end, I had a great day and will probably go back again! But having said that, I still have a healthy respect & fear of guns so it is not likely you will see me out there every weekend! Oh, and I don't think I could hunt either. There is a big difference between shooting a target and shooting something breathing. I just don't think I have that in me (not now anyway).

  2. I've gone to a shooting range with my husband before to shoot at targets, and it is fun to do. I'm like you though in that guns generally scare me. Hey, I've been wondering how the trash the dress thing went. Is there a place we can go see pictures? I just think that sounded like such a cool thing to do.
